When the creative bug bites, it does bite hard. So it was for Sahil Sangha who felt there was more he could offer the world than just marketing brilliance even after completing a degree in Marketing and Advertising in New York.
A chance encounter with a movie crew in downtown Manhattan led to a simple conversation with an icon of the Hindi Movie Industry. The die was cast and Sahil booked a one way ticket to Mumbai.
Sahil started out with Nikhil Advani and worked as an Assistant Director on Salaam-e-Ishq. He also formed a fruitful working relationship with Sunil Manchanda of MAD Films and worked on several ad campaigns for the company.
He realized soon enough that his creativity needed to find expression in writing - a desire that was fed while being surrounded by the works of literary giants on the shelves of Random House in New York where he worked. Several ideas, numerous drafts and many conversations later, he found the most receptive ears for his ideas in partners Dia Mirza and Zayed Khan, together with whom he found Born Free Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.
Sahil has written a romantic comedy flowing with contemporary wit and charm, as his first directorial venture.
In addition to his interest in film, Sahil has always been aware of the socio-political influences that shape the world. At a young age, he was deeply involved with the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa and had the privilege of visiting the country as part
of a state delegation. Meeting the iconic former President, H.E Dr. Nelson Mandela still remains Sahil’s most special memory.
Sahil believes that he is part of a vibrant set up that will facilitate a lot of young, Infectiously enthusiastic talent in making their filmmaking dreams come true.
Sahil is excited about the future of Indian cinema, not just as a creator himself but also as a mentor to creativity.
