Vijay Raaz is a very talented actor who has been in the Bollywood scene since 1999. The actor was first noticed in his role of the marigold eating Dubeyji in the film Monsoon Wedding (2001). He mostly plays comic roles and often depicts the character of a common man
Raaz took on the role of Badru in Mahesh Mathai’s Bhopal Express (1999) about the Bhopal gas tragedy. He had a part in Ram Gopal Verma’s Jungle (2000) and was seen as Yeda Yakub in the Amitabh Bacchan starrer Aks (2001).He made quite an impact as PK Dubey, a wedding contractor, who falls in love with the maid Alice in Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding (2001). Ram Gopal Verma’s Company (2002) saw him as Koda Singh.
After playing small parts in movies like Chura Liya Hai Tumne (2003), Bhoot (2003) and Yuva (2004), Raaz played the lead in Rajat Kapoor’s Raghu Romeo (2004). The movie won the Silver Lotus Award for Best Regional Film (Hindi). The same year he acted in Mahesh Dattani’s Morning Raga (2004) as Mr.Shastri, which received positive reviews.
Raaz went to act in Fool and Final (2006), Welcome (2007) and Rakyesh Om Prakash Mehra’s Delhi 6 (2009). He also features in The Flag (2009).
Raaz was arrested in Dubai in February 2005 for possession of drugs.
