Story - Laadam

Fresh out of college a young man comes to Chennai in search of a job. However, a case of mistaken identity lands him in a struggle between 2 big underworld dons, Paavadai and Vaembuli. While Paavadai gives him 16 days to kill Vaembuli’s son, Vaembuli will kill him even sooner if he tries to. Trapped in this deadly situation, does he manage to stay alive at the end of the 16 days?

Laadam - Fizzles

Laadam is the story of a young man who accidentally falls in the control of gangsters and finds himself in a life-threatening situation between the two gangs. As an intended thriller, the movie is some what of a letdown due to its uneven pace, poor characterization, predictable plot and very average screenplay. While the first half moves at a decent pace and builds things nicely, the second fizzles out, unexplainably slowing to a crawl. Further spoiling the fun are some limp dialogues and a heroine (Charmi) who character just doesn’t fit in the story. Clearly there just to provide the Oomph, Charmi acting gets annoying and in fact stalls the flow. There’s nothing much to write about the Hero’s (Aravindham) performance or the jarring music.

Overall, while some what stylish with the blue frames and all, Laadam doesn’t add up as a thriller. Direction, performances, music and the cinematography, the vital ingredients of a movie, let the movie down.
