Mohan Lal, one of Malayalam film industry’s most liked actors has won himself the best actor award, while Kaniha has been adjudged the best actress as part of the 2009 Malayalam Movie Awards.

Veteran Director and filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan will be honored with the lifetime achievement award

The award ceremony will be held at the Sharjah Cricket stadium on the 6th of November and the event is expected draw over 30,000 people that would include several non-resident Indians.
